JACLYN MARFUGGI POUND INSTRUCTOR

JACLYN MARFUGGI | POUND INSTRUCTOR

January 24, 2014

I got into pound about a year ago at the suggestion of my friend Angela Trimbur, and it has become a weekly haven on Saturdays. This Pilates meets aerobics meets drumming is a place to work out any stress and aggression from the week by literally pounding your drumsticks on the hardwood floor. Totally worth the two days of sculpting soreness I endure after. I bring you an old dear friend of mine, Jaclyn Marfuggi a.k.a pound goddess, to give you her insight.

WHAT INSPIRED YOU TO BECOME A POUND INSTRUCTOR

I've always had a love for fitness & dance but hit plateaus with many workouts or just got bored.  I left my first POUND class in "happy tears," drenched in sweat and knew I had gotten a total body workout while rocking out to JAYZ (my fave). It immediately clicked with me and I wanted to be apart of the POUND world in every way. I also was in a PUNK rock band (HIGH RISK) back in the day and loved the rock-out aspect of this badass work out! There's truly nothing like it!

TELL US ABOUT SOME OF THE OVERALL BENEFITS POUND PROMOTES IN MIND, BODY AND SOUL

It has been proven that Pound releases some amazing mood enhancing endorphins. You leave feeling exhilarated.  It's like a 45 min. therapy session with the added benefit of burning 900 calories and getting low with some booty dropping.  You can really let go and be childlike with the drumsticks—which I LOVE about it—because it's so easy as an adult to forget to be free, surrender to the moment and have fun—all while working on some fabulous Madonna arms and Gwen Stefani abs!

BEST RESULTS YOU'VE NOTICED IN A CLIENT OR YOURSELF

CONFIDENCE!!!  In their bodies and ability to try new challenging moves/workouts.  I honestly wanted to start drumming, as a hobby, after becoming a POUND instructor. Teaching this high-cardio class has also built up my endurance, incredibly. The body parts I notice the most difference in are definitely a perkier booty, sculpted arms, and much stronger inner core strength (goodbye muffin top).

WORKOUT RITUAL

Recently I drink TINY TEA a half an hour before I eat/workout, for energy. It is all natural and amazing.

I'm constantly trying to trick my muscles and change it up.  I love running, so I'll try to fit in a six mile run along Sunset two days a week.  I do two yoga classes a week to clear the mind and work on my flexibility. And I teach pound three days a week.  I'm also training to become Pilates Reformer Certified. I never stop looking for new workouts to love such as circuit-training, bootcamps and I just tried a pole dance class at BeSpun on Sunset. I give them so much credit over there. It’s probably one of the hardest things I've tried in a long time.

If I can fit in a dance class—my first love—I'm a happy girl. Post workout I'm a huge fan of the Body Fuel protein shake with water and one scoop of Peanut Butter.

FAVORITE EATERIES IN LA

My happiest place on earth, hands down, is the patio at Chateau Marmont. They’re the best. The energy, service and food are phenomenal.  Believe it or not, their Burger is one of my favorite menu items along with the crab & avocado or the Bolognese sauce.
